Over the years, we witnessed a paradigm shift in terms of the way of watching Bangladeshi TV programs by the audience, as they shifted to digital and online platforms for visual content than seeing it on TV itself.
Now, Mostafa Sarwar Farooki and company, who rejuvenated TV with a more realistic take on fiction more than a decade ago, has come up with a new initiative by making dramas for TV once again.
Under Farooki’s co-ordination, a total of 12 episodes will be made over a period of time, while the first seven dramas are slated to air this Eid-ul-Fitr. The other five will come out during Eid-ul-Adha. The whole project is called as Chabial Eid Re-union.
Details of the project came out in a press conference held on Tuesday at a hotel in the capital.
In the press conference, Mostafa Sarwar Farooki revealed that his former associates in Chabial, who now work independently, confirmed to helm the TV dramas, which includes Redoan Rony, Ashutosh Sujon, Saraf Ahmed Zibon, Ashfaq Nipun, Golam Kibria Farooki, Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi, Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz, Humayun Sadhu, Ishtiaq Ahmed Romel, Mahmudul Islam, Ali Fida Akram Tozo and Adnan Al Rajeev.
GroupM ESP and Ddhoni-Chitra Ltd jointly produced the project; however, the channel in which those episodes are to be aired is yet to be confirmed.
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said, “Television dramas these days are seemingly confined to a fixed formula. We are trying to do something beyond the formula. We are confident that the audience would draw their attention on local dramas again.”
“These 12 directors would tell their stories differently in the project than their usual way of narrative. Though, each director wrote his own story but every other director in the project has creative contribution in it,” he added.
Farooki also informed that if the project were successful, then they would continue to make TV series and films from the same platform.
New and old faces will be seen in the dramas as the entire project plans to run for the next one and half years.
