
Two talented Hollywood actors, Jake Gyllenhaal and Benedict Cumberbatch are in talks to star in Rio, the upcoming thriller by director Luca Guadagnino of A Bigger Splash fame.
Penned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and financed by Studiocanal, the story of the feature film revolves around a reporter (Gyllenhaal) that travels to Brazil to visit a wealthy friend (Cumberbatch), who asks for help in faking his death,.
Aside from starring in the film, both of the actors are also set to produce the film via their respective banners Nine Stories Productions and Sunny March. They will be joined by two other producers, Adam Ackland and Riva Marker.
Cumberbatch and Gyllenhaal are two of the Hollywood’s busiest stars with a wide variety of projects in various states of production in their hands.
Cumberbatch is set to play Thomas Edison opposite Nicholas Hoult’s Nikola Tesla for The Weinstein Company’s The Current War. The Sherlock Holmes actor will also reprise his Marvel alter-ego, Dr Strange, in the next Avengers movie, Infinity War.
Gyllenhaal, on the other hand, has just finished his Broadway role in Sunday in the Park with George and will be seen in Paul Dano’s directorial debut Wildlife.
