"Kolaveri Di"-star Dhanush, who made a successful Bollywood debut with Raanjhanaa, now wants to try his hands at directing Hindi films. He has already made his directorial debut with the movie Power Paandi in the Tamil film industry. Dhanush is now an actor, singer, lyricist, director and producer.
The experience of his first Hindi film was rather bittersweet. The actor received a lot of critical acclaim for his performance of an obsessive lover Kundan Shankar in the film directed by Anand L Rai.
But this year, Dhanush is positive about his career in Bollywood.
Dhanush will be next seen in VIP 2 alongside Kajol. Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, popularly referred to as VIP 2, is a sequel to the 2014 film VIP. While the Raanjhanaa star is reprising his role as Raghuvaran, Kajol will be seen playing Vasundhara Parameshwar.
This is only the second time that Kajol is acting in a Tamil film. The first time the Hindi actress appeared in a Tamil movie was 20 years ago in Minsara Kanavu.
Dhanush has become popular after the release of “Why This Kolaveri Di,” a song from the soundtrack of the 2012 Tamil psychological thriller film titled 3. The song is written and sung by Dhanush, and composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
The song was officially released on November 16, 2011 and instantly became viral on social networking sites for its quirky “Tanglish” lyrics. Soon, the song became the most searched YouTube video in India and an Internet phenomenon across Asia. Within a few weeks, YouTube honoured the video with a ‘”Recently Most Popular” Gold Medal award and “Trending” silver medal award for receiving a large number of hits in a short span of time.
