Nicole Kidman wants to try more TV
Nicole Kidman is taking over TV, as the actress recently was nominated for an Emmy for her performance in HBO’s Big Little Lies, and her upcoming role on the critically acclaimed Top of the Lake. This has opened her up to doing even more on the small screen. Apparently, she has thoroughly enjoyed the TV experience, saying during the Television Critics Association summer press tour this weekend that she would “love” to do more TV. However, she doesn’t know if it’s definitely “in the future,” but she’s certainly interested in returning to the small screen. She said, “Would I love to do more TV? Absolutely. Is it in the future? I don’t know.” After her two dramatic ventures, the actress is up for lighter roles. She explained, “I would love to be able to do a comedy. I never get offered those. I always get offered dramas.” The Oscar winner, who turned 50 last month, continued, “At this stage in my life, I’m so up for anything.” “I’m just at that place where I’m like, ‘I’m gonna try it. I’m willing to fall flat on my face. I know how to get back up again,” she added. The Hours actress said, “I’m very happy to be here and, I’ve said, to have this year -- it makes me cry -- with all of these things come together at the same time, it’s phenomenal. I don’t know how that happened because it was not thought out; it was given to me that way. So I just bow down and I’m very, very grateful.” Kidman executive produced alongside Reese Witherspoon HBO’s Big Little Lies, which is nominated for best miniseries along with Kidman’s acting nomination. Next, she will appear in the second season of Top of the Lake, in which she plays the mother of the child that protagonist Det Robin Griffin, played by Elisabeth Moss, gave up for adoption.
