In remembrance of the late film auteur Tareque Masud, Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) organised a special screening of selected short films on August 12, at the Teacher Student Centre auditorium. The screening is a part of the 9th installment of International Inter-University Short Film Festival, which began on August 11.
The screening was followed by a discussion program. Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University presided over the discussions while American-born filmmaker and Tareque Masud’s spouse, Catherine Masud was present as a special guest at the session.

“This is the first time we’ve arranged a special film screening session to pay tribute to the renowned filmmaker. The initiative would have nipped in the bud without the help of our honourable VC sir and specially, Catherine Masud. We are grateful to them,” said Dilawar Hossain Talha, the general secretary of DUFS.
DUFS organises the short-film competition titled, “Take your camera, frame your dream” every year, targeting young filmmakers from around the world. The budding directors can submit their films in two categories - competition and panorama.
The next screening of the selected short-films will take place on August 20 and 21 at Dhaka’s Alliance Francaise.
