Bangladeshi Wahid to work on the Hotel Transylvania franchise again
Wahid Ibn Reza shared the good news on his facebook page last Tuesday. Contacted by the Dhaka Tribune, Wahid confirmed that he’ll be working as Sony Pictures Studios’ Associate Production Manager. The company’s headquarters is located at Vancouver, in British Columbia province of Canada. He will be working with a team of 5 managers in the technical team of the upcoming sequel of the Hotel Transylvania franchise series. Wahid is in charge of the lighting and CG (computer graphics) department of Hotel Transylvania 3. Talking to Showtime, Wahid explained that Sony Pictures Animation is the production company behind this project, and the animation work of the project will be done by Sony Pictures Imageworks.

Hotel Transylvania 2, released in 2015, is a computer animated fantasy-comedy film, which was a sequel of the film Hotel Transylvania, released in 2012. Genndy Tartakovsky directed both the films, and is set to direct the upcoming 3rd sequel as well. Wahid told Showtime Genndy was the storyboard artist of Iron Man 2. He also added the Hotel Transylvania franchise is starred by hollywood superstars such as Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez as voice actors, and the third sequel won’t be any different. Wahid Ibn Reza last worked in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s VFX team, as Method VFX Studios’ VFX production manager. He passed his Mechanical Engineering honors degree from BUET in 2006, and later attended Canada’s British Columbia University to study film production. Wahid joined Bardel Entertainment’s animation studio after graduation, and worked there for a few years. He later joined the famous Moving Picture Company (MPC) as a Project Co-ordinator and worked in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice project. He has also worked in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Doctor Strange (2016) during his tenure in the Method VFX Studios. Wahid worked in the visual effects teams of Hollywood’s Furious 7 (2015), Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) and HBO’s Game of Thrones. Earlier in May 2017, Wahid gave an interview to Showtime, while Doctor Strange (2016) was nominated for the Academy Awards for best VFX. The nomination made him a part of a Oscar nominated team. In the interview with Showtime, Wahid talked about the his journey from an engineer to hollywood’s leading VFX artist. He also talked about his life, work and plans for our industry. Wahid has plans to collaborate with a Bangladeshi VFX studio called Maverick Studios, which will offer a platform for training fresh talents, and for outsourcing VFX projects to freelance VFX artists, like any other major countries in this sector, such as India and China.
