
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised “Bangladesh Film Festival-2017”, starting from October 6, which has been a continuation of Shilpakala Academy’s Theatre and Film department, since 2011.
Previous festivals celebrated films, commemorated renowned film personalities, held seminars and digital filmmaking workshops, and children filmmaking courses.
The “Bangladesh Film Festival-2017” so far has received 44 films, made between 2015 and 2016, in five different categories from 64 districts across the countries.
Among the 44 films, 11 films have been selected to screen during the 16-day festival.
Seven selected jury members will judge the films and award them in three categories: for Best Film, awarding Tk2 lakh, for Best Director, awarding Tk1 lakh, and for Special Jury Award, awarding Tk50,000.
Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present, as the chief guest during the inauguration programme held at the Shilpakala Academy’s Chitrashala Auditorium. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of Shilpakala Academy along with filmmakers Sayedul Anam Tutul, Morshedul Islam and Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar were also present during the opening ceremony.
Reazul Mawla Rezu’s film, Bapjaner Bioscope was screened on the inauguration evening. The festival will also hand out certificates to all the filmmakers during the closing ceremony on October 21, which will be held at Shilpakala Academy’s Chitrashala Auditorium.
