Taskeen Rahman: The villain in talks
Fresh-faced and blue-eyed Taskeen Rahman, whose recent film Dhaka Attack hit theatres last Friday, is the new talk of the town. The new actor was cast to play a negative role in the film, and hence has impressed audiences with his ‘bad-boy’ charm. People, who have seen the film, have been talking highly of the actor on social media platforms. Taskeen’s affirmative presence on screen as a villain in his debut film, while making a name is a rare occasion in Dhallywood. Yet, people have appreciated the blue-eyed actor’s negative role, Zeeshan, in Dhaka Attack. In spite of all the praises the actor has been receiving from fans and critics, he was seen missing during the promotion for the film along with leads Arifin Shuvoo and Mahiya Mahi, since he lives in Sydney. Taskeen, who has been living in Australia since 2002, believes that the success of Dhaka Attack will now inspire him to come to Bangladesh more frequently and work in the film industry as a professional actor. Following the success of Dhaka Attack, Taskeen posted a video on his Facebook account to directly address and congratulate the whole team, followed by thanking all the enthusiastic people who went to see the film. Taskeen further thanked writer Sani Sanowar and director Diponkor Dipon of Dhaka Attack in the video. Taskeen seemed to be enjoying the success of Dhaka Attack, but repented for not being able to stay in Bangladesh during the release of the film. However, he is looking forward to coming back soon. According to most viewers, Taskeen’s performance and screen aura was compared with veteran actor and hit villain of Dhallywood, Humayan Faridi, commenting that another Faridi has arrived. Quite humbly, Taskeen refused to be compared with such a personality, since he believes he will need to work much harder to reach his level. Taskeen had previously worked with the late actor in 1990 on Shiter Pakhi (Winter Bird) as a child artist, which was broadcasted on BTV. Taskeen will also be seen in another upcoming film, Aadi, which stars ABM Sumon and Shaila Sabi as the lead. Directed by Taneem Rahman, the film’s first official trailer was released on January 8, 2016. Meanwhile, his latest film Dhaka Attack will hit international theatres in Canada, America, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand very soon. Watch the video interview with Taskeen:
