Jessia hard at work for Miss World 2017
Miss World Bangladesh winner Jessia Islam is already taking rigorous preparation for the upcoming 67th Miss World 2017 to be held at Sanya, China. She is set to leave Dhaka on October 19 to participate in the main competition against 117 other countries' representative competitors. This is the first time, after a hiatus of 16 years,  Bangladesh is being represented in an international beauty pageant and it appears that the organisers are not leaving any stone unturned in polishing her up to display a proper image of Bangladeshi culture to the pageant's worldwide audience. Jessia's wardrobe has already been selected by a group of experts which includes traditional Bangladeshi wears such as Thami (tribal wear of Bangladeshi ethnic groups), salwar kamiz of jute cotton, Jamdani saree etc. The beauty queen will also be seen wearing western attires and gowns made by Nabila boutiques. She will carry other jute merchandises to be presented to the organisers and guests in the pageant. As for now, Jessia has been taking regular instructions from Miss India instructor Nayanika Chattergee. She will also be getting further tips and instructions from Miss World competition's judges and instructors. She also confirmed that she's been trying to overcome her limitations by watching previous years' competitions and collecting expert opinions. Competitors of Miss World are to be introduced to the audiences through a small documentary about themselves and their countries. Jessia complained that although the deadline for submitting the documentary for this year's competition expired on October 16, she has not yet been approached for the making of any such production. However, Miss World Bangladesh 2017 organiser Antar Showbiz chairperson Swapan Chowdhury gave assurance that the documentary is well under production. “The Bangladesh part has been finished, now it's Jessia's turn. Some footage from her school is yet to be managed. In any case, we are hoping the documentary will reach there before Jessia.” This year's Miss World finale will be held at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Sanya on November 18. The two and a half hour long event is to be hosted by Tim Vincent, Megan Young and Steve Douglas. As ever, the current Miss World (Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico) will crown her successor at the end of the event.
