Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's upcoming feature “Doob: No Bed of Roses,” which was previously said to be released in Bangladesh and India simultaneously on October 27, will not be premiering in Dhaka. Instead, the film will only premiere in Kolkata's Quest Mall Inox on October 26 at 6pm.
Actor Irrfan Khan was supposed to arrive in Dhaka on October 25 to take part in the promotional activities of the film. Seemingly, the famous Bollywood actor will not come to Bangladesh since the film will premiere in India.
Reportedly, “Doob” will screen in 100 cinema halls in Bangladesh and 200 halls in India.
Meanwhile, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Abdul Aziz will leave for Kolkata on October 26 afternoon to attend the screening. They will come back to Dhaka the day after and visit the cinema halls in Dhaka.
Director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, actors Irrfan Khan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Parno Mittra will participate in a 30 minutes press briefing before the premiere in Kolkata to answer some questions from journalists.
There has been a fair amount of hype in Bangladesh regarding the release of the film, and the excitement among the youth indicated people’s eagerness for the film.
When asked about the sudden change of plans, Farooki revealed that due to the demand of their Indian producers, they had to shift the venue from Dhaka to Kolkata.
Among the four lead actors, two are Bangladeshi while the other two are Indian. While the entire crew of the film is Bangladeshi, along with the locations shot in Bangladesh, the Indian producers have come forward with an objection, that they are missing all the actions.
Farooki also thinks that if the premiere of the film is held in Bangladesh, it would be an injustice to the spirit of the joint production.
“To show respect to the spirit of joint ventures, we have decided to premiere the film in Kolkata,” said Farooki.
He also believes that the well wishers will understand the reason and be supportive on their decision.
“The experience of watching the film in the theatre will be the same whether it is a premiere or not. I will ask all our friends to go and watch the film in theatres,” says the celebrated director.
Doob is produced by Abdul Aziz under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia and India's SK Movies, while co-produced by Irrfan Khan.
