Miss World Bangladesh Jessia Islam was welcomed by the current Miss World title holder, Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle.
During a charity auction held at China’s Shenzhen city, the contestants for this year’s Miss World beauty pageant, coming from all over the world, were called up on stage. They catwalked their way onto the stage, on a red carpet, in front of more than 700 influential business leaders and government officials.
Miss World 2016 Stephanie called the beauty queens, including Jessia Islam from Bangladesh, and officially greeted and introduced them to the world.
After the introduction, this year’s contestants sang the Miss World theme song, “Light the passion, Share the dream” together, followed by a grand dinner.
Each contestant received a token from their respective countries to bid at the charity auction.
The donation, summing over £150,000 pounds, gathered at the charity auction, will be donated to the Mother Works Fund - an organisation that helps mothers all over China.
The Miss World China foundation was also announced during the same programme. The foundation’s goal serves to collect funds for the “Beauty with a purpose” program.
Jessia Islam was thrilled and honoured to represent Bangladesh at the charity auction.
The contestants were taken from Guangzhou to visit the Wensli Silk Museum at Hangzhou city on Friday, October 27, where they were all given a traditional silk scarf as presents.
Jessia posted pictures of her journey on her Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, saying she received a beautiful present at Hangzhou city.
The main competition for Miss World 2017 will begin in November, and the grand finale will be held on November 18 at Sanya City Arena in China.
