Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) organised the 120th instalment of its World Film Manifestation Programme (WFMP) on Monday at the Teacher-Student Centre auditorium in Dhaka University.
The day-long event featured the widely popular and timeless British comedy trilogy: “Monty Python and The Holy Grail”, “Monty Python’s Life of Brian” and “Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life”.
On their pioneering effort to introduce the local audience to the wide variety of international films, DUFS International Affairs Secretary Rubaiyat Sultana Nikita said: “The main motto of the WFMP is to introduce the celebrated off-stream international movies to our local audience. The three films we screened on Monday are timeless creations of British comedy group Monthy Python.”
“We presented these masterpieces to the new generation of cinephiles as DUFS always works with a view to create an enthusiastic pool of filmgoers from the new generation and WFMP is an efficient way to achieve our goal,” said Mir Rezwan Mahmud Tonmoy, the newly elected president of the organisation.
Monty Python, also known as The Pythons, were a British surreal comedy group who created their sketch comedy show “Monty Python's Flying Circus”, which first aired on the BBC in 1969. The group later started making films following their success on the small screen.
