Bangladesh Film Directors Association (BFDA) is reintroducing the talent hunt which had discovered some of biggest stars of the film industry.
Initiated by Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) back in 1984, the contest sought for new faces and found stars like Manna, Parveen Sultana Diti, Misha Saudagar, Amit Hasan, Sohel Chowdhury, Amin Khan, and Sheli Quader (Manna’s wife), among others.
The contest however, ceased to continue since 1990, leading a prolonged gap.
This time, the decision to revive the talent hunt has been initiated by BFDA, for the first time, under a new banner titled “Notun Mukher Shondhane” after 27 years, where FDC has agreed to provide their full support.
The final decision about re-launching of the contest will ensue on February 18, 2018, said Bodiul Alam Khokon, the newly-elected secretary general of BFDA.
According to BFDA President Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, the talent hunt was much needed after all these years because of shortage of stars in the Bangladesh film industry.
