Yet another film to be made on Padmavati

Update : 17 Dec 2017, 10:21 PM
Amid the aggravating controversies and backlash against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus “Padmavati,” news of making yet another film on Padmavati has been making rounds. Titled “Main Hoon Padmavati,” according to sources, the film is all set to go on floors. To avoid the repercussion Bhansali and his team faced due to their films content, the next rendition of the Indian epic period drama is being penned by a writer from Rajasthan, sources confirm. Ashok Shekhar, the producer of the coming film confirmed the news. Shekhar added that the new film will introduce a bunch of newbies to the industry. “Main Hoon Padmavati” will be released in both Hindi and Rajasthani language. Bhansali's “Padmavati” is battling mounting protests by the Rajput community, which claims a distortion of history in the depiction of legendary queen Padmini, who is said to have killed herself to avoid being captured by Muslim emperor Alauddin Khilji. Earlier in November, the head of the Rajput Karni Sena in Rajasthan said Padukone, what stars as the titular character, should have her nose cut – a symbol of public humiliation – for being part of a film that allegedly insults the famed queen. Amid mounting pressure, the filmmakers have deferred its release and announced that new release date will be decided only after the CBFC clears it in India.
