
With the slogan “Better film, better viewers,” Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) is organizing the 17
th Amar Bhashar Cholochitro at TSC Central Auditorium from February 12-17. The festival will open on Monday by screening Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s film “Doob: No Bed of Roses” at 6:30 pm.
This open for all festival will screen 20 contemporary and classic movies. The opening ceremony will take place today at 5:30. The chief guest at the ceremony will be the faculty advisor of DUFS, Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddiq.
On the closing day, DUFS will award “Hiralal Sen Padak” to the best film of 2017. Mir Rejoan Mahmud Tonmoy, President of DUFS, told Showtime the jury board includes professors from four different universities in Bangladesh- DU professor Shofiul Alam Bhuiyan, Jahangirnagar University professor Junayed Halim, IUB professor Zakir Hossain Raju and Dhaka City College professor Moinuddin Khaled. Veteran filmmaker Nasiruddin Yousuf (Guerrilla, 2011) will present the award.
The closing film for the festival is Tauquir Ahmed’s “Haldaa,” which will be screened on February 17 at 6:30 pm.
DUFS has been around for six decades promoting the art of filmmaking. Amar Bhashar Cholochitro is an annual event dedicated to the language martyrs.
