‘Sultan Suleyman’ spinoff ‘Kosem’ on Deepto TV

Update : 16 Feb 2018, 09:56 PM
Following the massive popularity of the historical fiction television series, “Sultan Suleyman,” Deepto TV is all set to delight their audience with more of “Suleyman the Magnificent.” To retain audience’s rising demand, the TV channel is all set to air a spinoff, “Sultan Suleyman: Kosem,” from February 17 at 7:30pm and 10pm. Written by Yilmaz Sahin, the spin-off recounts the life of Mahpeyker Kosem Sultan, a slave girl who became one of the most powerful women in Ottoman history after she was captured and sent to the harem of Sultan Ahmed I. “I believe Kosem will be as admirable to the audience as Sultan Suleyman. The extraordinary qualities of an ordinary woman, Kosem, have brought her the highest respect and power, who later successfully escapes the traps laid down by Safiye Sultan. The spinoff will present an all different test to the audience,” said Moru Vashkor, the voice behind Ibrahim Pasha in the previously dubbed series. Vashkor’s voice will also be featured in the spinoff. “Sultan Suleyman,” written by Meral Okay and Yılmaz Şahin, is based on the life of Ottoman Sultan ‘Suleyman the Magnificent,’ the longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and his wife Hurrem Sultan, a slave girl who later was known as the Sultanate of Women. The series also focuses on the relationships among the members of the imperial household, especially romantic entanglements and rivalries. The main plot revolves around the animosity between Hurrem Sultan and Mahidevran Sultan, Hurrem’s rise as Suleyman’s favourite, her fall out with her husband after giving birth to a daughter and her eventual return to grace among other numerous sub-plots.
