37th National Rabindra Sangeet Summit begins in Nilphamari
The 37th National Rabindra Sangeet Summit has started at the Nilphamari Government High School playground. The three-day long event was inaugurated by Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor around 4pm on Friday. Nilphamari National Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad has undertaken different activities to celebrate and observe the event. Under the supervision of Dhaka University's Faculty of Fine Arts Assistant Professor Md Harun, a team of 15 fine arts students have decorated the walls of Nilphamari town with paintings of distinguished personalities and important events in history of Bangladesh. The summit will be presided over by National Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad Central President Sanjida Khatun and moderated by General Secretary Bulbul Islam. At the inauguration ceremony, Minister Asaduzzaman Noor said: “To establish a Bangladesh free of superstitions, communality, and religious bias, there is no other alternative than holding events such as the Rabindra Sangeet summit.” Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad Convener and Nilphamari Government College Principal Devi Prasad Roy said around 800 cultural activists from all over the country will be participating in the summit. Nilphamari's Superintendent of Police Ashraf Hossain said: “Heavy security measures have been undertaken surrounding the summit. CCTV cameras have been installed. No one will enter the venue without a security pass and going through full-body search.” Other than that, law enforcement members in plainclothes and RAB and BGB will also be deployed during the three-day event.
