Archie to get a live action film in Bollywood

World famous Archie Comics and Graphic India are teaming up to create a Bollywood-style live-action film that re-imagines the American suburban teens as Indian characters, according to a recent exclusive report published in Variety. The film will re-imagine the classic characters like Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Moose and Jughead with an all Indian cast and will feature all the elements of the comic book series. The project which is currently under development will be the first international comic to be translated for Indian screens. No probable release date was announced. Graphic India leader Sharad Devarajan told Variety that Archie comics have long been embraced by Indians and "now it's time to take them fully into Bollywood in an exciting new twist of a story." The freckle-faced Archie first appeared in comic form in 1941 and went on to become a household name all around the world. Archie Comics have sold over 2 billion copies worldwide and being published in over 17 languages across 55 countries. The characters are currently part of a TV series on CW called "Riverdale."
