Popular Bangladeshi drama troupe Prachyanat's acclaimed production “Kinu Kaharer Thetar” is set to stage its 50th show on March 14 at the main theatre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
“Kinu Kaharer Thetar,” a satire, written by Manoj Mitra, portrays a rural dramatic troupe back in the British rule in India.
The satirical play depicts a timeline of the colonial period of India where a minister of a fictional state named Putna abuses a woman. The play revolves around several humorous incidents that ultimately unveil a crucial truth.
“Kinu Kaharer Thetar,” directed by Kaji Taufiqul Islam Imon, will recently also attend and represent Bangladesh at the eighth Theatre Olympics in India. The comedy will be staged at the event, organised by India's National School of Drama (NSD), on March 21 in Delhi. They will also host a special show at India's Bhopal on March 23.
