2nd Sylhet Film Festival to start with submissions from 122 countries
The second edition of Sylhet Film Festival, hosted by Sylhet Agricultural University, will start from March 18. The film festival had started last year with the tag-line “Encourage independent filmmaking.” The festival is scheduled to be inaugurated at the university's TSC premises on March 18 and run till March 21. This year 2808 short films from 122 countries were submitted at the festival and 97 of them were selected by the jury. These films will be screened throughout the festival. The jury were formed by actor Manoj Kumar and filmmakers Ashraf Shishir and Muktadir Ibn Rafiq. Famous film festival curator Premandra Majumdar will be curating the event as previous year. The four day long festival will open with Morshedul Islam's recent film “Akhi O Tar Bondhura.” The organisers are hoping more independent filmmakers and enthusiasts will join this year than the previous one which was also very successful.
