Dhali Al Mamoon is a Bangladeshi artist and pedagogue based in Chattogram. He is one of the leading contemporary visual artists from the 1980s working with diverse mediums. His drawings, paintings, kinetic sculptures / moving objects and installations explore the varied systems of knowledge and experience that have converged over time in his homeland. With shifting layers of light, liquid, texture and form Mamoon constructs complex, melodramatic experiences that are allegorical in effect, casting flickers of new light on our understanding of memory and history in our region.
In 2006, Mamoon was awarded the Grand Prize at the 12th Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh. His works have been collected by Bangladesh National Museum; Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan; Bengal Foundation, Bangladesh; Ibsen Museum, Norway and by many other public and private collections at home and abroad.
The exhibition will be open daily from 5:00- 8:00pm till April 17 at the Kala Kendra gallery.
