Two Bangladeshi feature films, “Haldaa,” and “Khacha,” are competing at the Saarc Film Festival 2018 in Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital. The eighth edition of the film festival will start from May 22 and end on May 27. Both films are competing in the Feature Films – Competitive Nominations category.
Short and features films , from the eight Saarc nations of South Asia, will be screened at the festival in three categories, which are: Feature Films – Competitive Nominations, Short Films – Competitive Nominations, and Master Films – Non-Competitive Nominations. According to the film festival’s website, three feature length films and two short films will be screened at the six day-long event.
Akram Khan’s “Khacha,” and Tauquir Ahmed’s “Haldaa,” will be screened at the festival. Morshedul Islam’s “Akhi O Tar Bondhura,” has also been selected to screen in the Master Films – Non-Competitive Nominations category.
Also, short films “Kalo Megher Bhelay,” and “Daag,” will be representing Bangladesh in the Short Films – Competitive Nominations category.
On another note, Tauquir Ahmed’s film “Oggatonama,” won the Best Screenplay award last year at the seventh edition of the festival.
