The Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh (FFSB), in collaboration with Bangladesh Short Film Forum and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, is organizing a memorial event on Mrinal Sen today.
The program will be held at 5:30pm at the National Music and Dance Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, where film enthusiasts will remember the legendary film-maker, who died last month.
The participants will discuss Sen's life and works. Prominent film-makers, journalists and leaders of film societies in Bangladesh are set to attend the event, which is open to all.
Mrinal Sen passed away on December 30 at Bhawanipore in Kolkata. Sen, aged 95, had been suffering from old-age ailments for a long time.
Born in Faridpur, Bangladesh on May 14, 1923, Sen is often credited with starting India’s New Cinema Movement in the 1960s with his Hindi film, “Bhuvan Shome."
