Rock band Obscure composed a new song, titled “Shurer Borputra.” The song is about musician, cultural activist, and martyred freedom fighter of the Liberation War, Altaf Mahmud who composed the song, “Amar bhai er ronkte rangano.”
During the first hour of Ekushey February, Channel i aired the song on television, remembering the martyrs of the Language Movement.
Bangla Academy Literary Award winning writer Lutfor Rahman Riton penned the lyrics, while the band composed and arranged the music of the song, dedicating it to Altaf Mahmud.
A few lines from the song are: “Ekattorer rokto srotey, tomar naamey duti, tomar shurer indrojaaley mugdho amar shruti/ oshtoprohor tumi amar koshto hoye baajo.”
