Saarc Film Festival postponed after Colombo terror attack

The festival has been rescheduled for July 2 to 7

The ninth edition of the Saarc Film Festival was scheduled to start in Colombo on Tuesday, May 7. The festival has been postponed by the authorities due to the recent Colombo terror attack on Easter Sunday. The festival’s Bangladeshi film advisor and distributor Monjurul Islam Megh confirmed the news at the Saarc Cultural Center in Colombo. 

The festival has been rescheduled for July 2 to 7.

Earlier this year, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Information and Ministry of Foreign Affairs nominated five films to represent the nation at this year’s Saarc Film Festival. National Film Award winning film-maker Nasiruddin Yusuff Bachchu’s recent film “Alpha” will be screened in the Master category. The films in the Feature Length category are: “Fagun Haway” directed by Tauquir Ahmed and, “Komla Rocket” by Noor Imran Mithu; while the two short films are: “A Quarter Mile Country” by Noman Robin, plus “SeeYou” by Chaitali Somadder and Syful Akbar Khan.
