Chittagong City Corporation is going to pay tribute to deceased rock legend Ayub Bachchu, by naming the Prabartak square after the legend, as part of the beautification program of the city.
The beautification program was underway last year, after Ayub Bachchu’s death on October 18. Chittagong City Corporation mayor AJM Nasir Uddin made the decision to dedicate a square to Ayub Bachchu, and erect a guitar statue on that road.
Md Shamsuddoha, chief executive officer of the Chittagong City Corporation told us: “We have launched a design, and there will be a guitar statue at the square. “
Bachchu died in Dhaka on October 18 last year, at the age of 60. The singer, and guitarist was buried at the Chaitanya lane graveyard in Chittagong.
He was a revolutionary rock singer of the country, and he impressed his listeners with modern, classic, and folk songs.
