Shadhona’s dancer Md Hanif has been accepted for the Akram Khan Dance Company summer intensive program. The six day summer program will begin at Orsolina in Italy on August 5.
Including Hanif, 45 professional dancers and students over the age of 18, all with backgrounds in contemporary dance or ballet, will train under Akram Khan, Mavin Khoo, Nicola Monaco, Andrej Petrovic, and Joy Alpuerto Ritter.
The participants of the program were selected through an application process.
Discussing the summer intensive, Md Hanif told Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime: “I am very grateful to Lubna khala and Shadhona for giving me this opportunity, because everything was possible because of Lubna Khala’s support.
“I joined Shadhona over a decade ago, and I have learned an incredible amount about Kathak and dance forms since then.”
This year, Hanif received an undergraduate degree in Kathak from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata.
“I got a scholarship from the Indian government in 2016,” Hanif said, adding that he has also received a scholarship to pursue his masters degree.
