Xefer, who is widely popular on YouTube, first came to limelight for covering famous English songs. She is still considered to be Bangladesh's first YouTube star

Bangladeshi modern pop singer Xefer Rahman has released a new music video, titled "Dirty Tricks," on Friday from her own Youtube channel. The song is from her first album "Uncaged," and everything from Xefer's costumes to the way the music video was shot, seems like it is heavily influenced by the Western pop music scene.

The music video shows Xefer singing in various party dresses, while four girls attired in black are dancing around her. The setting of the music video features dimmed neon lighting, checkered flooring, chessboard and chess pieces, and clichéd Western music video tropes, such as overhanging dice, playing cards, and a throne-like chair that has hearts and spades carved into it.

Regarding the music video Xefer told reporters that it was her third. Before this one she had released "Judge," and "Somebody." All her songs are pretty well received among the listeners of the newer generation.

The themes in the lyrics of "Dirty Tricks" and the way the music video was made, shows that Xefer, whose attire, and hairdo is influenced by the West, is attempting to take Bangladeshi pop into a new direction.

The costume was designed by Xefer herself, and Faisal Rahman Nehal. The video was produced by Flybot Studios, and directed by Nahiyan Ahmed. The songwriters for "Dirty Tricks" were Xefer, Mohon Sharif, and Nagib Hawk.

Xefer, who is widely popular on YouTube, first came to limelight for covering famous English songs. She is still considered to be Bangladesh's first YouTube star.

Aside from covers, she has also been releasing some original songs. She had worked as a playback singer for a Bangladesh-India joint film production titled "Shenapoti." Her song was titled "Uncaged," the title track from her debut album, which was released on August 25, 2017. The nine-track album was unveiled at Star Cineplex.
