Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer British crime/drama series McMafia won the award for Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards 2019 on Monday, beating Sacred Games, which was also nominated in the same category.
Siddiqui shared on Instagram a photo of himself with director James Watkins, holding the award.
“It’s a pure delight to be receiving the beautiful winner’s trophy at the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York, with one of my favourite Director James Watkins, for our work,” he wrote, followed by a series of tags and hashtags.

Although both Lust Stories and Sacred Games were snubbed, the nominees and their teams didn’t let the disappointment eclipse the award night.
Adorned in a gorgeous Nikita Jaisinghani suit, Karan Johar, one of the directors of Lust Stories, posted a photo of himself with the Game of Thrones showrunners- David Benioff and DB Weiss.
Radhika Apte shared a group portrait of the entire Lust Stories and Sacred Games teams at the event.
McMafia follows Alex Godman, the English-raised son of Russian mafia exiles, who spends his life trying to escape the shadow of his past, and building a legitimate business. Siddiqui plays an Indian businessman, Dilly Mahmood, in this series that premiered in January, 2018.
