As part of the celebrations for 40 years of Miles, the band's guitarist Hamin Ahmed is auctioning one of his acoustic guitar. The bidding for the guitar began on Wednesday and interested buyers can join the auction through the website: https://miles.jaago.com.bd/bidding.

The funds raised from the auction will go to underprivileged children from the Jaago Foundation.

The guitar has also been signed by all five members of Miles. At the time of writing of this report, the highest bid so far was Tk55,555.

According to a Facebook post made by Jaago, to announce the auction, the guitar was played by Hamin himself in the recording of the albums Proticchobi and Proticchobi Delux. Miles' members will hand over the guitar to the highest bidder on the occasion of their 40th anniversary celebration concert, which will be held in International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) on December 24.

Regarding the auction Hamin said: "This is the best guitar among my favourites. I played this during the recording of two albums. I also played this guitar on many other occasions. Now I have decided to give this guitar to an auction. I am feeling a little sad, as nobody enjoys parting with something that is their favourite. But when I thought about the fact that the guitar is being auctioned for the sake of underprivileged children, then I agreed to it happily."

Hamin also informed that the other members of Miles will also auction few of their instruments, as part of their 40th anniversary celebration.

As part of the ongoing celebration to commemorate 40 years of Miles, the band has already performed in 28 concerts across the globe including the United States, Canada and Australia.

This week Miles will be performing in Sylhet and Rajshahi and end with the closing concert in capital's ICCB on December 24.

Regarding the closing concert the band's lead vocalist and bassist Shafin Ahmed said: "We have kept the very last event- of celebrating 40 years of Miles- in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A few other bands will also perform with us on that night. There will also be a few other surprises for the fans."

Bangladeshi bands Warfaze, Vikings, Souls, Feedback and Dalcchut will perform before Miles on the closing concert.

Miles started as a band in the Hotel Intercontinental through performing English songs. Their first album- which was completely in English- was released in 1982. At the time many griped that Miles cannot compose Bangla songs. Miles released their first Bangla album, Protisruti as a retaliation towards those comments. Every song of that album, including Chaad Tara, became massively popular.

Since then the band members never looked back. Whenever they released an album, it would automatically become a super hit. Their songs also gained a lot of popularity in West Bengal, India.

Miles released their first CD (compact disc) album in 1994. The album, titled Best of Miles, was released by Los Angeles-based Disco Recording.

In 1996 Miles performed in five concerts in India, two each in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Channel M and MTV recorded these concerts. Miles was the first Bangladeshi band to tour USA and Canada, back in 1996.

One of the most memorable concert of Miles was held in National Stadium of Dhaka, in which approximately 60,000 people attended. The concert was organized under the supervision of Bangladesh Cricket Control Board, and was sponsored by Pepsi.

In 2001 Miles was invited to perform in New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium along with Junoon and Silk Route.

The albums that have been released so far by Miles are: Miles (English-1982), Protisruti (1991), Prottyasha (1993), Prottoy (1996), Probaho (2000), Protidhoni (2006), Proticchobi (2015), Proborton (2016) and Proticchobi Delux (2017).
