Bappa, Sona’s duet in Bangla, Hindi Popular musician Bappa Mazumder collaborated with Indian singer Sona Mohapatra for a romantic duet. The romantic song was first written in Bangla, titled Bondhu Re , by lyricist Shahan Kabondho and composed and arranged by Bappa. Nemesis returns from break Popular rock band Nemesis returned from their temporary break. The band announced an indefinite break on a Facebook post in May which was sad news for the band’s fans. Since then fans have been waiting for the day when Nemesis makes a comeback. Fans didn’t have to wait very long to get their favorite band back in action. On August 20, Nemesis announced they are back from their break and will continue playing as before from September onwards. The band posted a video from their practice pad on its official Facebook page.

Music in films This year many biopics on iconic music figures dominated the film industry. The year started with the release of Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (in late 2018) In May Elton got his own biopic, Rocketman, which was widely received by both fans and critics. Beatles-themed romantic comedy Yesterday was another film on music. In the upcoming year, biopics on the lives of Aretha Franklin, Bee Gees, Bob Marley, Celine Dion, Boy George and Carole King are lined up.
Beyonce receives Oscar nominations Popular singer Beyonce received Oscar nominations for “Spirit” from "The Lion King"soundtrack. She received the nominations under the Music (Original Song) category.
Rap music takes over UK Rap song dominated the Official UK charts this year. Among the big hitters there was Dave’s chart-topping, Mercury Prize-winning debut album "Psychodrama."In 2019, many rap artistes dominated the chart with their hits like "Be Honest,""Must Be,"among others. Internet meme expert-turned-rapper Lil Nas X scored a global smash with "Old Town Road,"dominating two weeks at Number 1 on the Official UK Singles Chart and a record-breaking 17-week run at the top in the US.
Music industry of Bangladesh was quite exciting and filled with celebrations in 2019. Two of the major bands-Miles and Artcell celebrated their 40 years anniversary and 20 years anniversary respectively. Many big rock concerts took place which saw huge turn-out.
Heavy metal band Trainwreck performed in Germany, and they also performed in other shows in India and Nepal. Rock musicians and fans were excited as Azam Khan received posthumous Ekushey Padak which established a new path way for the rock music industry.
On the other hand, internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila composed and released a new album featuring seasoned musicians of Indian Sub-Continent.
