"My wife is Hindu, I am Muslim. However, my children are Indian," SRK said.
Shah Rukh Khan made a special appearance on the reality TV show Dance Plus 5 on Saturday.
In a video from the sets of Dance Plus 5 currently making the rounds on social media, the Bollywood superstar was seen openly admitting that religion was not discussed at his home at all.
"My wife is Hindu, I am Muslim. However, my children are Indian," he said.
Khan also recalled a particular event from his daughter's childhood on the reality show.
He said: 'When my daughter came to ask me what religion she should mention in her school form, I told her that she and her brother were Indians above all. And that would have to suffice."
Shah Rukh Khan has two children, Aryan and Suhana. Both of them have previously expressed their willingness to follow in their father's footsteps and work in Bollywood in the near future.
Shah Rukh Khan has of late come under fire owing to his silence regarding the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in India.
