Hoichoi to stream 'EKATTOR' on Independence Day

The thriller, EKATTOR, would feature five lead characters against a backdrop of the Liberation War

Popular entertainment platform Hoichoi is scheduled to release a new web series titled EKATTOR on March 26, marking the Independence Day of Bangladesh.

Written by Shibabrata Barman and directed by Tanim Noor, the web series has an ensemble cast including acclaimed actors like Iresh Zaker, Mostafa Monwar, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Mostafizur Noor Imran, Tariq Anam Khan and others.

On Thursday, Hoichoi launched the official trailer of the new web series at Taufiq Aziz Khan seminar hall of the Daily Star centre, in the presence of prominent media personalities.

During the event, Iresh Zaker, said: "Tanim Noor is a talented director. When he approached me to work in his project, I could not reject his offer.

"Now that our work is almost done, I can say without any qualms that this is exactly how a story should be allowed to come alive on big screens."

Imran Noor, addressing the event, said: "For a project of this magnitude to work, you need a good team and a good story. Moreover, you need effective collaboration in the sets. I am very grateful to Hoichoi for making all these three things come together."

Mithila, who is set to play the role of a Pakistani army officer's wife and a journalist, said: "The role was very challenging for me. I had to deliver fluent Urdu dialogues, which required a lot of my time and hard work.

Director Tanim Noor said: "The Pakistan army was planning to carry out a certain 'Operation Blitz' to quell the East Pakistani struggle for freedom in 1971. I wanted to tell the story of how this plan was thwarted."

Produced by Dope production, The Good Company is the executive producer of the web series.

Earlier, Hoichoi released two original web series titled Dhaka Metro and Money Honey.
