Gaan Bangla family has donated TK 50 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund in order to bolster the national fight against the coronavirus pandemic. There is yet to be seen a bigger donation coming from the cultural scene of the country.

The donation was presented by Farzana Munny and Kaushik Hossain Taposh on behalf of the event management company One more Zero Communications and Gaan Bangla TV channel on Wednesday at the PM’s office. The PM exchanged Bangla New Year greetings with the married couple through video conference.

Taposh said with regard to the donation: “Our PM has always made it a point to stand by the cultural activists of this country. Now, amid the pandemic, we are merely trying to express our gratitude through this small donation.”

“We are prepared to give everything to combat coronavirus. We must win this fight for our country,” he added.

Previously, Gaan Bangla family, in cooperation with Dhaka North City Corporation, agreed to assist more than a thousand family amid the pandemic. In  last month, Gaan Bangla also revived its international platform Music for Peace to inspire viewers in quarantine, through their performances.
