Songsoptok made Humayun Faridi a household name
Songsoptok, a popular drama series from the ‘90s, made Humayun Faridi a household name and an instant superstar. The late actor’s memorable performance as ‘Kankata Ramzan’ helped him consolidate his position in the final decade of the last century as one of the leading actors of the country.
BTV finally aired Songsoptok during the ‘90s following prior failed attempts as the filming of the serial was disrupted twice, first during the Liberation War and later due to the catastrophic flood of 1988.
BTV has already brought back two of its most popular shows- Bohubrihi and Kothao Keu Nei this month and received widespread positive response from people of all age.
BTV Director General S M Harun-ur-Rashid has now accounced that the channel will begin to air Songsoptok as well after 30 years. The work is already under way to broadcast the serial from the tape.
The drama, based on a novel by Shahidullah Kaiser, was written for TV by Imdadul Haq Milan. It is set to return to BTV within a week.
Songsoptok is likely to replace the timeslot of Bohubrihi as soon as all the episodes of the latter are aired.
Apart from Humayun Faridi, the cast includes Ferdousi Majumder, Raisul Islam Asad, Mujibur Rahman Dilu, Mamunur Rashid, and Subarna Mustafa and many others. Abdullah Al Mamun, Al Mansur, and Mohammad Abu Taher directed Songsoptok.
