Alif Alauddin suffering from severe kidney damage

Singer and presenter Alif Alauddin has been suffering from kidney complications for the last 10 years. Now, with 80% of her kidneys damaged, the her family is preparing for a transplant.

Alif's kidney complications are genetic. Her mother, singer Salma Sultana, died of kidney failure in 2016. 

"I didn't tell anyone outside of my family about my battle with this disease," Alif told Bangla Tribune. "I tried to put on a happy face. But the way it has been deteriorating, made it harder to keep it a secret anymore... I want to live a little longer for my daughter." 

Alif's singing career spans over two decades. She has bee hosting a weekly show, Music Buzz, on Ekattor TV for seven years.
