As a continuation of Hoichoi's commitment to feature Bangladeshi films, Anil Bagchir Ekdin, Swapnajaal and Meghmallar will stream on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Earlier, the streaming platform hosted Niamul Mukta's Kathbirali and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Pipra Bidya and Television.
The World Digital Premiere of Anil Bagchir Ekdin will take place on July 25, followed by Swapnajaal on July 31. Meghmallar will also get premiere this August.
Bangladesh National Award-winning film Anil Bagchir Ekdin is based on a novel by Humayun Ahmed. The film portrays how the cowardly Anil Bagchi gets a chance to show bravado and rise to the occasion.
Swapnajaal revolves around a family tragedy that comes in between a love affair. Set by a riverside in the Chandpur suburbs in the '90s, Swapnajaal at its core is a teenage love story between Opu (Yash Rohan) and Shuvra (Pori Moni). Their blooming romance take a dramatic turn south when conniving influential businessman Aynal Gazi (Fazlur Rahman Babu), with the help of his trusted aide Thandu (Iresh Zaker) tactfully oust Shuvra and her family from their home. Opu fights back to bring justice to Shuvra's family and to get back his love, but even after justice is served, there are bigger obstacles on the way to their reunion.
Lastly, Meghmallar is about a story of a simple man caught up in the terror of 1971 Bangladesh. The film is an adaptation of writer Akhtaruzzaman Elias's story titled Raincoat. It focuses on rural teacher Nurul (Shahiduzzaman Selmin) who just wants to keep his head down and stay out of trouble amidst the growing insurgency that’s threatening the authoritarian Pakistani regime.
Hoichoi Bangladesh Business Lead Sakib R Khan said, “This festive season we are going to stream three new films which have told stories about our country in a magnificent manner.
