The latest Netflix biopic marks the director's long-awaited comeback to cinema since the 2014 theatrical release of 'Gone Girl'
David Fincher’s upcoming film, Mank, will tell the true story of legendary screenwriter Herman J Mankiewicz and his conflicts with director Orson Welles over the making of the timeless Citizen Kane.
David Fincher’s late father Jack Fincher has penned the script of the upcoming film, starring Oscar-winning British actor Gary Oldman in the lead role of screenwriter Mankiewicz.
According to Collider, Netflix will release Mank in less than two months, on December 4, making it clear that the streaming giant considers Fincher’s latest film a serious Oscar contender.
Fincher is reuniting with Netflix after directing acclaimed TV dramas like Mindhunter and House of Cards. This marks the director’s long-awaited comeback to cinema since Gone Girl, released six years ago.
Screenwriter of The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin said about the director’s latest film: “It’s breathtaking, even by David Fincher standards.”
