After Busan and London, Fazlur Rahman Babu starrer ‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ is now heading to Singapore
Debutant director Rezwan Shahriar Sumit’s national grant winning film Nonajoler Kabbo has been selected for the Singapore International Film Festival in the South Asian Premiere category.
Only two other South Asian films will be screened alongside Nonajoler Kabbo.
On top of that, the prestigious London-based sales agent, Film Republic, has acquired the international rights of the films, confirmed the director.
As of today, Nonajoler Kabbo is having a remarkable festival run. Sumit’s debut feature received its world premiere at the 64th BFI London Film Festival as one of the 50 films officially selected for this year’s highly competitive slate. The film had its Asian Premiere shortly after at the 25th Busan International Film Festival.
Acclaimed musician Shayan Chowdhry Arnob composed the film’s soundtrack, and Chananun Chotrungroj, the winner of the best cinematography award at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival, shot it.
When a city-raised sculptor visits a remote fishing village on the Bangladeshi Delta, he finds himself embroiled in a primal, elemental conflict between land and sea, man and nature, past and future. Nonajoler Kabbo tells a clash-of-cultures tale, set in a remote coastal village of Bangladesh, and shines a unique light on love and resilience.
A Bangladesh-France coproduction, supported by acclaimed director Spike Lee, Nonajoler Kabbo stars veteran actor Fazlur Rahman Babu, Tasnova Tamanna (Live from Dhaka), Titas Zia (Mrittika Maya) among others.
Nonajoler Kabbo will premiere at Singapore International Film Festival on November 29 at 6.30pm.
