Cinema Bangladesh is the first and only film society to win this award
'Cinema Bangladesh' bagged the prestigious 'Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020' on Tuesday, November 17.
Prime Minister's ICT advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy announced the list of the 30 youth-led organizations who were conferred the award for their contribution to the betterment of society.
Cinema Bangladesh is the first and only film society to win the award. The organization has been conducting work shops across the country since 2017 and providing a platform for homegrown filmmakers and film activists to interact with international filmmakers.
Apart from advancing the film society movement, the organization has also made films in the past. Their latest feature, an Italian-Bangladeshi joint venture, will explore the life and work of missionary priest, Father Marino Rigon.
Since its inception in 2014, Young Bangla, the youth front of ruling Awami League's research wing CRI, has been recognizing the efforts of youths who initiated and carried forward positive social changes.
Awardees of previous years were endowed with direct interaction with policymakers and networking among themselves, which helped them continue and enhance the services they were already doing to their communities, reported UNB.
