Jaya Ahsan declared female performer of the year

OTT platform Hoichoi awarded Jaya Ahsan with the Performer of the Year prize for her performance in critically acclaimed films Konttho and Robibaar. 

Jaya's co-star in Atanu Ghosh's Robibaar, Prosenjit Chatterjee, bagged the award in the male category.  

Robibar, directed by National Award-winning film-maker Atanu Ghosh, starred popular Bangladeshi actor Jaya Ahsan and West Bengal actor Prosenjit Chatterjee as two former lovers running into a chance meeting with each other. 

Previously, Jaya Ahsan won the Best Lead Actress Award in a Foreign Language Film, and Atanu Ghosh clinched the award for Best Original Screenplay of a Feature Foreign Language at Madrid Film Festival 2020.

In Konttho, Jaya played a speech therapist named Promeela who helps the protagonist regain his voice. 

In a Facebook status, she wrote, "Thank you Hoichoi for the honour. I am grateful to the entire team of Robibaar and Konttho."

Hoichoi presented the awards for web series and films released from December, 2019 to November, 2020.
