David Fincher’s next Netflix thriller, titled The Killer has been announced, starring Michael Fassbander in the lead role.

According to Deadline, the film will be based on Alexis Nolent’s graphic novel series of the same name. Andrew Kevin Walker, the screenwriter of ‘Seven,’ will adapt the novel for Fincher.

Deadline reports, “The graphic novel series followed a cold-blooded assassin who begins to have a psychological crisis in a world with no moral compass.” Fassbender has been cast to play the assassin who suddenly develops a conscience, to the detriment of his job.

The Killer has been Fincher’s passion project for a long time. The director reportedly has been pushing for the adaptation for over a decade.

Fincher has recently committed to the project after several meetings with Fassbender. This will be the first time that the duo will be working together. Fassbender is best known for his roles in Inglorious Bastards, Shame and Prometheus.

David Fincher and Netflix go way back, starting from the acclaimed TV series House of Cards and Mindhunter to Fincher's last feature film Mank.
