53-year-old Craig, who last played Bond in 'No Time to Die,' is also a veteran stage actor
Daniel Craig will play the ambitious and murderous “Macbeth” on Broadway next year on September 28th in London on Tuesday.
The new film, in which British actress Ruth Negga plays Lady Macbeth, will begin on March 29 for a limited period of 15 weeks.
53-year-old Craig, who last played Bond in No Time to Die, is a veteran stage actor who starred on Broadway in the 2013 drama Betrayal and appeared on multiple stages in London.
Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” new staging is produced by Bond film producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson. Tickets went on sale on Wednesday.
“Daniel is not only a great film actor, but also a spectacular theatrical actor. Broccoli is excited to help him return to Broadway, where he plays this iconic role," said Wilson.
Dozens of Broadway plays and musicals resumed in September after an unprecedented 18-month shutdown due to a coronavirus pandemic.
