Bangladesh Football team Captain Sabina Khatun is going to participate in the Indian Women’s League once again as she left home on Monday to join her side Gokulam Kerala FC.

Sabina, who scored six goals in the previous edition of the tournament for Sethu FC, was supposed to join a Chinese Taipei Club but as she did not get a visa, she decided to accept the invitation of the Kerala side.

The tournament began on Sunday and Sabina’s side made a flying start as they beat defending champions Rising Student’s Club by 5-0 at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, Punjab, where all the matches of the 14-team tournament will be held.

The teams are divided in two groups and the two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinal after playing single-round group matches.

Bangladesh national team coach Golam Rabbani Choton was ecstatic as Sabina is going to feature in the prestigious foreign league for the second time.

“Sabina is going play Indian League once again. It is great news for country’s football. I hope she will do well,” said Choton on Monday.
