Bangladesh's Shakib al Hasan goes down to the ground in pain as Mahmudullah looks on during their tri-series match against Ireland in Dublin Wednesday AFP

After the match, the team management informed that Shakib al Hasan might be suffering from a side strain injury but that it is nothing serious

Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan is facing an injury scare as he was forced to leave the field while batting on 50 not out against host Ireland.

Bangladesh cruised to their 293-run target and the top-order batsmen batted well as the Tigers eventually chased down the challenging total with seven overs and six wickets in hand.

Shakib came out to bat after Tamim Iqbal got out scoring 57 in the 17th over.

He batted until the 36th over before going back to the pavilion retired hurt.

During the drinks break after 32 overs, Shakib seemed to have felt some discomfort.

During the 36th over, physio Thihan Chandramohan came to the field and after some stretching, Shakib looked okay for a few minutes.

Then Shakib batted for five more deliveries, reached his fifty but after the over was completed, he left the field with some discomfort.

After the match, the team management informed that Shakib might be suffering from a side strain injury but that it is nothing serious.

The team management will assess the situation Wednesday night before providing an update Thursday, on the eve of their tri-nation ODI series final against the West Indies in Dublin Friday.
