Bangladesh spinners have had success in the recent past against Holder and co.

West Indies captain Jason Holder admitted that Bangladesh do have a slight upper-hand against the West Indies as the in recent past, Bangladesh have won seven matches against them from nine but also informed that it’s a different stage and they will come hard against the Tigers.

“If you want to put an underdog tag on us against Bangladesh, that’s probably fair enough. We have played each other in quite a few matches and they won against us many times in the recent past. But it’s a different stage and a different occasion. There is a lot at stake for this match for both of the teams. We all are looking for it,” said Holder during the pre-match press conference at Taunton on Sunday.

West Indies have three points from four matches and it’s a crucial game for them to qualify for the semifinals. Holder is hoping to kick-start their World Cup campaign in full throttle from the next match against Bangladesh.

“Not any team is easy in this tournament. We have to play well. The ball is on our court. We still have five games in our hand. We have to play consistent cricket to win matches and qualify for the semifinal. It’s a good stage to pick up the momentum as well. We have to play well against Bangladesh then we have to move forward,” added the West Indies skipper.

Bangladesh spinners have had success in the recent past against Holder and co. and the West Indies camp know they have to deal with the spin threat yet again against Bangladesh.

“We are open to any challenge. Traditionally, they rely heavily on their spinners. We know what we have to face against Bangladesh. It’s a small ground.  I have seen the wickets. There is a bit of grass on it. We have play well to defeat them. It’s a game of cricket. We have seen how this World Cup is going. There were some close games and also some upsets. We are looking to play good cricket on Monday,” Holder concluded.

The match between Bangladesh and West Indies will commence from 10:30am local time and 3:30pm Bangladesh time.
