All-rounder Shakib al Hasan is in red hot form in the tournament so far as he scored 124 not out, 121, 64, 75 in his last four innings, and currently the World Cup top-scorer

Bangladesh are targeting repeating their all-round performance against formidable opponent Australia when they face off against each other in their 2019 World Cup match at Trent Bridge Thursday.

The Tigers reached Nottingham Tuesday afternoon after playing their game against the West Indies a day earlier.

The Tigers had an optional training session Wednesday afternoon.

Skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Rubel Hossain, Liton Kumar Das and Abu Jayed Rahi trained at Trent Bridge on the eve of their matchday.

All-rounder Shakib is in red hot form in the tournament so far as he scored 124 not out, 121, 64, 75 in his last four innings, and currently the World Cup top-scorer.

Australia, who are known to attack key player of the opponent, are aware of the fact and preparing their ammunition to combat against the world’s No 1 ranked all-rounder.

“Bangladesh are playing really well. It's exciting to come up against a team that are in good form. And I think we're in really good form as well. So it's going to be a great game. Conditions here normally suit batters. And it's normally high-scoring events here, which is exciting. But hopefully we obviously rock up and play really well. Shakib is in really good form. He's one guy we want to get out early. But along with the other guys as well, they've come in and done really well,” said Australia wicket-keeper Alex Carey during the pre-match press conference at Trent Bridge Wednesday.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe praised in-form Shakib but also believes the other players are performing well in the tournament thus far.

The skipper expects a team effort from the players to achieve more wins in the tournament and go through to the next stage.

“Shakib is scoring runs; that's a great thing for the team. But if you look at it, the other boys have stepped up. Mustafizur, as I said, in the last match got those two wickets. Saifuddin came in and took the wicket of [Chris] Gayle early,” said Mashrafe during the pre-match press conference.

“Tamim [Iqbal] made a good start; Soumya had a good start in the last game. Liton played well and used his opportunity well. As a spinner Miraz is bowling so well. So it's not been a one-man army, but other players particularly bowlers have to step up a little bit with what Shakib is doing. If other players can step up then it will be great for us in the end,” added the Bangladesh captain.

The pitch at Trent Bridge is relatively batting friendly.

Bangladesh might go with the same playing XI that played against the West Indies.

The weather has been a big concern in this World Cup as four games have been washed out.

Bangladesh had to face that fate once as their match against Sri Lanka was washed out in Bristol.

According to current weather prediction in Nottingham, there are chances of scattered rain Thursday with 30% precipitation.

Bangladesh have four matches in hand, including Thursday's game against Australia, and have to win at least two to qualify for the semi-final, which is also depending on other permutations.

The match between the Tigers and the Aussies will start at 10:30am local time, and 3:30 Bangladesh standard time.
