The ITF Asian U-12 Team Championship was inaugurated in Dhaka Monday

Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association president Mahabub Ara Begum Gini inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest

Bangladesh girls made a winning start in the Walton ITF Asian U-12 Team Championship 2019, which got underway at National Tennis Complex in Ramna Monday.

The girls pair – Prottasha Das and Sadia Afrin – came from behind to defeat Maldives by 2-1 sets. 

Prottasha lost the first set against Aasaal Azim 3-6, 0-6 in the first singles, before Sadia beat Shafee Saeed 6-2, 6-2. 

Bangladesh won the game when Sadia and Prottasha defeated Maldives pair 6-4, 6-3 in the doubles.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh boys team comprising Sajib Hossain and Nadim Mollah lost by 3-0 sets against Indian duo Ramalingam Senthil Pranav and Dhamne Manas Monoj.

Earlier, Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association president Mahabub Ara Begum Gini inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.
