Bangladesh boys’ and girls’ team had a bad day Thursday in the Walton ITF Asian U-12 Team Competition, organized by International Tennis Federation, Asian Tennis Association and Bangladesh Tennis Federation, losing to Nepal and India respectively in the semi-finals at National Tennis Complex in Ramna, Dhaka.
The Bangladesh boys lost 1-2 to Nepal while the girls lost 0-3 to neighbor India.
Bangladesh boys made a good start as Sajib Hossain beat Pranav Manandhar 6-2 6-4 before Nadim Mollah lost 3-6 1-6 against Arrav Samrat Hada.
Nadim and Sajib then lost the doubles to Hada and Manandhar 1-6 1-6.

Bangladesh girls fared little better as Prothasha Das lost 0-6 0-6 to Riya Sachdeva before Sadia Afrin suffered a 2-6 0-6 defeat at the hands of Ika Raju Kanumuri.
Afrin and Prothasha then lost 0-6 0-6 to Riya and Samiksha Dabas 0-6 0-6 to complete the ignominy of the home side.
In the boys’ final Friday, India and Nepal will lock horns with each other while India and Sri Lanka will do battle in the girls’ final.
