Bangladesh U-19 cricket team began their tour of England with a resounding 109-run over Young Lions XI in a warm-up match at Loughborough Thursday.
Asked to bat first, the visiting side posted a competitive 259 losing eight wickets in their stipulated 50 overs, riding on a 61-ball 62 from middle-order batsman Shahadat Hossain.
Most of the other batters got starts but were unable to prolong their innings with opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s 29 the next best score.
The home side’s Luke Doneathy and Ethan Brooks bagged three wickets apiece.
In reply, the Young Lions were in all sorts of trouble after stuttering to 16/4 and only a 95-run stand for the fifth wicket between Solomon Bell (42) and Doneathy (58) ensured they would not suffer a humiliating loss.
